Hello Twilight Zone, Hello Weave Theft

This New York Times article about the rise in weave theft and “illegal” sales in the US, including someone actually being killed for $10,000 worth of weave (yes, as in the hair weave) cements my feelings that there are people not living in the same world as me. I live in a world where people do not die over weave. Some people live in a world where $10,000 worth of weave is worth one human life. The question is as always, who is buying the weave? Who’s mentality is so damaged that weave is worth that much? Who is committing the crime and who is doing the time? Who is making the money from the expensive weave?
